Robert Kenner's powerful documentary on the U.S. food industry, Food Inc., is made all the more powerful by the epilogue to the film, set to Bruce Springsteen's live version of "This Land is Your Land" by Woody Guthrie. Guthrie wrote it in 1940 in response to Irving Berlin's "God Bless America," which he considered unrealistic and complacent, so it's the perfect choice for a documentary that strips away the pastoral marketing lies of the food industry to make a very direct appeal to audience members to change our incredibly screwed up food system. The instrumentation on the song is minimal, which makes this entreaty even more immediate and personal. Very, very effective.

I just saw the movie and was completely awed the by the closing scene with Springsteen singing Guthrie's classic!
